Benefiting the Kyle Shellberg Memorial

Bromwell Elementary School's annual tradition of selling handmade Valentine’s Day cards to benefit a local charity has a very personal meaning for the students. This year, the Student Council has decided to give the proceeds from the sale of student-made Valentines to The Kyle Shellberg Memorial to benefit the family of Kyle Shellberg who passed away last December.

Lauren Shellberg was the art teacher at Bromwell Elementary school until the fall of 2010. She left the school in order to spend more time with her baby. Shortly after she left, her husband, Kyle, was killed in an avalanche. The children of Bromwell wanted to do something to help Ms. Shellberg and her daughter to get through this difficult time, so it was decided to use the money from their card sale to endow The Kyle Shellberg Memorial.

The cards, created by every student from Kindergarten through 5th grade, will be sold for $3 each at the Show of Hands gallery at 210 Clayton Street from February 3rd – 14th. The event will kick off on Thurs. Feb. 3rd with a reception for the artists from 3:15 until 6:00 PM.
