Since 1982 Tim has been traveling the globe experiencing
and photographing the
people and places of various locations. His fascination with adventure,
exotic cultures and
historic locations has lead him to embarking on numerous excursions
to Central and
South America, India, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, New Zealand and
Mexico,
as well as numerous travels through out the United States and Canada.
Some of his advertising and editorial clients include National Geographic,
U.S. World and News, Jeep, Time-Warner, Outside Magazine, Patagonia
Clothing
and Sports Illustrated.
He resides in Salida, Colorado when he's not on the road, in the
air, paddling a river
or perhaps resting in a hammock somewhere.
Artists
Statement
"All
my images are created on location using 35mm cameras and film.
My work is varied, as I am drawn to the world in many ways. Particular
attention is always paid to design, lighting and texture. Sometimes
I hand paint my photographs to accentuate color. To me, art is a
synthesis of my personal feelings, the subject or colors that inspire
me and the materials and techniques that I use. Serenity and simplicity
are my primary goals. My art mirrors the poetry and adventure of
exotic travel."
Tim's emulsion transfers and mixed media prints are created from
his original travel
photographs on 35mm slides. Limited edition archival prints are
produced on inkjet printers.
Emulsion transfers are created using Polaroid film, where the emulsion
is wet-transferred
to watercolor paper. Upon drying the prints are hand painted using
watercolors. The print
is then scanned and further manipulated in Photoshop.
The majority of Tim's photographs are not digitally manipulated
at all.
