"Balance
is the ideal."
All of Julie Cline's work is thrown on the potter's wheel. She forms
each jar, bowl, plate, vase and pitcher from a smooth red earthenware
clay, applying a combination of glazes and lusters in decoration.
Each piece is fired up to four times, and often takes up to two weeks
to complete.
The forms of Cline's pottery are an interpretation of "classical" shapes,
both eastern (Pacific Rim) and western (early Greek and Roman). Balance
is Cline's ideal when working on the wheel or designing and painting
the form.
