Mandy & Katie's Blog
Happy New Year!
As each new year begins, we recommit to our goals while crafting new ones, and harness our strength to propel us towards the things we want most in life. Where we start is irrelevant. It's who we are becoming that matters the most.
Thank you to all our fabulous customers for a wonderful year! Thank you for shopping local, and for supporting artists across the country. We are so lucky to carry the work of such talented and creative people. May Show of Hands continue to be prosperous and spread art and happiness in 2013!

Love,
Katie and Mandy
Beautiful Sticks Mirrors!
Sticks
Each piece is handcrafted within Sticks' award winning studio in Des Moines, Iowa. All pieces are finely crafted from birch, poplar and driftwood. The pieces are further designed with hand drawn imagery, etched conturing and vibrantly blended paint.
At Show of Hands we continue to bring in new mirrors and Sticks furniture throughout the year. These pieces are always beautiful and one-of-a-kind. Sticks pieces can also be personalized to feature themes, imagery or colors that you desire. Contact Rich for any special orders. He has many years of experience with Sticks and can help you order that perfect piece.
These beautiful mirrors are currently at the store and would make the perfect holiday gift!

The orders from the New York Gift Show are starting to arrive...
and we are very excited to carry Vintage Sculpture and Spiritiles, along with some old favorites, too!
Vintage Sculpture (left) out of Norwalk, Iowa is one of the newest additions to the gallery. The work of Tracy Pesche (right) of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin is an old favorite in the gallery, but has been updated with her newest pieces.

Spiritiles
Every one of Houston Llew's Spiritiles is handcrafted in Atlanta, Georgia from American made copper, glass, and wood. Finely-ground colored glass is hand-painted on copper, then fired by kiln.
The true gift of Spiritiles lies not only in the detailed glass images, but also in the stories written on the sides.
There is always a Spiritile that resonates, and there is always someone who comes to mind when you pick one up to read it. Everyone loves a good story...

August Already!
Holy Cow July was busy! We started the month off with the Cherry Creek Art Festival. And it was dramatic! Huge rain storms and sideways winds did not stop art lovers from this year's festival.
We were so lucky to host an Anna Balkan trunk show during the festival. Customers were in Awe of her beautiful jewelry and frankly of Anna herself. Anna sold 80 pieces. Amazing!
The rest of the month flew by. We participated in the CCN sidewalk sale and stayed very busy.
Now we are prepping for a 5 day trip to NYC! We are heading to the NY Gift Show. Katie and I are looking forward to seeing many of our favorite artists and finding some new work as well. We have our budget ready to go. We are buying for the holidays and 2013!
(Mandy, Anna and Katie)

There are over 250 handmade artists showing their work at the show. That means a lot of walking in the city for us! Plus some fun nights out with our favorite artists. Artists love to party. I don't think Katie will be able to keep up!
We will post pictures of this adventure soon!
Show of Hand's Website
After 6 months of work and the help from two very savvy web masters, we are excited to have our new Show of Hand's website up! We will now have the ability to post pictures of new handmade, one of-a-kind artwork arriving at the store. We will inform customers about store events and news, such as artist trunk shows, sales and open houses. The site will also have an up to date Artist Directory with pictures of our artist's work.
Through this blog we (owners Mandy and Katie) will take you through the journey of owning an art gallery in Cherry Creek. We will share with you our trips to Art Shows and introduce you to the amazing artists that Show of Hands is so lucky to work with. We are working hard to continue the success the store has had for the past 29 years.
Follow our journey as we search the country for the most interesting, beautiful and well made artwork we can find!
